For the Record I’m a progressive rather than a liberal or a conservative.
I honestly don’t care if you’re a Democrat or a Republican. If you’re Stoopid enough to utter the words “Love it or leave it!” in my hearing I will promptly rip you a new one with zero remorse or politeness.
This being a Progressive, contrary to what the Democrat Party Brass would have you believe from their Grand Orwellian Newspeak, means that I look to what serves my fellow citizens best, without any regard to the welfare of either political party, rather than what serves the corporate bribers of our two sets of Party Brass and their game of Three Card Monte*.
Here’s the study he’s talking about: https://scholar.princeton.edu/sites/default/files/mgilens/files/gilens_and_page_2014_-testing_theories_of_american_politics.doc.pdf
Here’s a conservative take on it America’s Not an Oligarchy—Yet
Here’s a progressive take on it The US is an oligarchy, study concludes
So what does a progressive look like?
I’m a Navy Veteran (1979 to 1983 ET-2/E5)
I’m anti abortion in MY life but solidly pro-choice for everyone as THEY see fit, while being strongly for fact based, complete, medically accurate, sex education starting at just before puberty, and free contraception to ANYONE who asks for it.
I’m all for school bullies and Nazi fucking wannabes getting punched HARD.
I’m also solidly for the strict interpretation of the Second Amendment as disambiguated by The Oregon Constitution in Article 1 §1 and §27
I think the 16th Amendment should be repealed entirely and we should go back to a situation where if the citizens of a state/s believe a federal action is wrong (like 40 fucking years of Wars For Profit) WE have the option to starve them for money.
And last but not least, I think this set of Federal laws should be enforced, by citizens uniting across party lines, upon OUR representatives using literal pitchforks knocking on doors; regardless of the SCOTUS lie that corporations = people. Failing that, and given the insane amount of economic and political power multinational corporations have here; they should ALSO be subject to the restrictions in our Constitution.
Now we get to the meat of my answer:
If y’all want to lose all my respect instantly just say “Love it or leave it” once in my hearing. Had our founding fathers taken that pedantic view we’d still be paying a 150% tax on tea to The Crown.
See, here’s the thing.. A REAL Patriot is the guy who stands up on his hind legs and loudly calls out the wrongs of our government to demand redress and demand that the government COMPLY with our Constitution rather than evade its admittedly (and intentionally) draconian restrictions on their powers.
Unquestioning adoration is only suitable in small children.
I love my fellow citizens well enough that I chose to put my life in the line to protect our Constitution. I’ll also note that there’s not one single word in that oath I took which says I’m to protect the government or their corporate bribers.
So, without further ado..
Saying such a thing to ANYONE in my hearing, in real life, will land you smack dab in the exact geographic epicenter of a proper raging shit storm. Y’all think your DI was bad? I can blister paint at 20 paces in three languages. I was also RPOC For a Drill Team Company in Boot.. So y’all know I can sound off at length at 115 DbM on Soldier Field.
