Actual causes of Teen Pregnancy (and abortions)

My @Quora answer to Why is teen pregnancy so prevalent in America? http://qr.ae/a8p2K

The US teen pregnancy rates are higher than other wealthy nations because of several factors.

1) We have a television culture of “sex sells” such that sex is glorified for its own sake on TV with little or no discussion of the potential costs.

2) Sex feels GOOD, and humans are hard-wired to desire sex. That’s why we call it a “Sex Drive!” That Sex Drive is insanely high in teens, and even higher in teen males (I know this because I used to are one).

3) False Puritanism:
Many states have laws specifically restrictions or criminalizing the teaching of biological FACTS to our kids. Often the sex “education” policies in these states do NOT require that “education” cirraculum be medically accurate. (Basically, “teachers” are ALLOWED to “teach” blatant lies)

4) Many of these states also have laws restricting or criminalizing birth control for teens and adults, as well as mandating the teaching Abstinence as the “only valid” method of birth control.

In effect these states are putting our kids in the position of being forced by biology to drive a car with absolutely no knowelege of where the brake pedal is located or how to use it.  This level of legislative and societal idiocy causes “crashes.” To stretch the analogy it also can cause teens to put water in the engine oil. (The persistant myth that douching with a coke after sex will reduce pregnancies… it won’t)

Reducing unplanned pregnancies is a worthy goal, but these “methods” simply don’t work.  In point of Fact, they have the opposite effect to the stated goal.

Note that the States with the lowest average education levels and the most restrictive laws on teaching our kids the Facts about how their bodies actually work are also the States with the highest teen pregnancy rates:

This one is particularly interesting to me.

5) Poverty also plays,a huge role because if your choice is between contraception or eating, guess which wins?!

Do you see any correlations here? I certainly do!
Now, I know that correlation isn’t causation, but I find it very interesting that those states without mandatory sex education which also have no requirement that any education given be medically accurate also have the HIGHEST teen pregnancy rates!  Is it possible that denying our kids the Facts about how their bodies actually work is a direct and proximate cause for high teen pregnancy rates?  Is it possible that the existence of false  Puritanism in education (substituting religious dogma for facts) actually helps to CAUSE the problem it (purportedly) seeks to resolve?
As was said to me often while I was a kid: “God gave you a brain… USE IT!”

Note: Abortion is CAUSED by
1) A lack of Medically Accurate Info to teens and pre teens.

2) A lack of access to effective birth control.
Allowing teens birth control does not signal approval of early sex, it simply gives kids access to an Emergency Brake system in case something goes wrong.
