Does learning the history of marijuana legislation make you think it should be legalized?

I've always thought that all recreational drugs should be legal, and that the least harmful of these, like marijuana, should be available to adults in much the same way that alcohol is.

I also think the same about prostitution.

The simple fact is that prohibition does nothing (never has) to "address" a perceived "problem" except to drive that "problem" to a black market, and the gang activity which comes with driving problems "out of sight."

Here's another factor to think about: Getting Stoned, whether through the use of alcohol, pathological exercise, or drugs is a stress reduction mechanism that we humans are HARD WIRED by evolution to use and need.

The simple Fact is that the VAST MAJORITY of people are going to get stoned once in a while. Does it really matter whether they use alcohol, or drugs for the purposes of stress reduction?
